Southeastern Technical College Introduction - Development and Approval of Policy and Procedure

Southeastern Technical College, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, is governed by the State Board of Technical and Adult Education and is operated by the Technical College System of Georgia.

Southeastern Technical College and the Local Board of Directors follow, adhere to, and support the policies and procedures of the State Board of the Department of Technical and Adult Education except in cases where the State Policy and Procedures Manual is silent or the Local Board deems additional clarification is needed at the local level.

The President is the principal designated official for the implementation of the Technical College System of Georgia policies and procedures.

The primary responsibility for proposing College policies rests with the President; however, policies may be proposed by any member of the Local Board of Directors or by any staff member at the College with the approval of the President.

New or proposed policy revisions shall first be presented to the Executive Council for review and approval.

Policy proposals shall be submitted to the Local Board of Directors, through the President’s Office, five days prior to a regularly scheduled meeting for review.

When the Board adopts any new policy statement, the new policy preempts and covers all previous statements appertaining thereto.

It is the responsibility of each member of the Southeastern Technical College Executive Council to ensure that policies and procedures under his or her responsibility are reviewed annually and maintained in a manner that is clear, concise, current, and consistent with federal and state laws.  Each Executive Council Member is also responsible for recommending new policies and procedures whenever the need arises.

The President is authorized to approve policy changes involving typographic errors or minor changes without substantive effect.

The State Board of the Department of Technical and Adult Education Policy Manual and Southeastern Technical College Policy Guide are on the Technical College System of Georgia and the Southeastern Technical College web sites.
